We can remind ourselves until we’re blue in the face that we need to be kind to ourselves, be gentle to ourselves, be forgiving to ourselves, but sometimes we need to hear it from another source. Just like we’re better able to share our compassion with others rather than ourselves, while we find it much harder to be a best friend to ourself, sometimes we need to hear the words from others for them really to sink in.
Here are 10 of my favourite tender quotes that will help you love yourself a little more. They’re designed to be sharable, pinable, and printable, so you can use them as you like (I share these and other inspiring quotes on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest).

The first one resonated for me immediately, Ellen. It was the “tender” feeling of all those particular words in combination. These are so beautiful and so inspiring!
Thank you Sandra, and yes, I just love that one too. My mum quite often sends it to me, despite my age! :-)
I love all of these. So inspirational and motivating. I particularly like the one about honoring boundaries. It took me a long time to learn that one, but I finally did.
Ah yes, I absolutely know I am still working on that one Debbie. It’s funny, some people think inspiration quotes are a little trite, but I think there is just so much wisdom in each of these if we spent a bit of time meditating on their message.
Beautiful quotes Ellen. I love them all. Honoring our own boundaries speaks to me today because when we honor ourselves, we set the tone for how we will be treated by others. Inspiring!
You’re so right Cathy. Really glad you liked them!
A beautiful and gentle read Ellen. My favourites? Albert Einstein and Anais Nin. I love the feeling that everything is a miracle and finding peace with oneself is vital to our wellbeing and happiness.
Thanks Elle. And yes, I included the miracle one because I think that thinking in that way changes our relationship with the world, which in turn changes our relationship with ourselves – we are a miracle too :-)
You know I’m a quotes junkie Ellen :) So this is pure heaven for me. Youve done such a wonderful job with these creations. Beautiful!
Love each and every quote :)
Much Love,
Z~
Thanks so much Zeenat, so glad you liked them! x
Ellen, thank you for these. I use them a lot. However, the last really resonated. Right now, I am taking care of myself on a sabbatical in Ireland.
Thanks Pat, that’s definitely one of my favourites too. Good luck with your sabbatical, I hope it’s a time where you’re able to focus on what lights you up inside.
They are all gorgeous quotes, Ellen! I love the “You cannot serve from an empty vessel” So true! Charity begins at home, as the old adage goes. Applies to self care too! Thank you!
Thanks so much Vidya. I always think that quote’s a really good reminder for those of us that think we’re too busy looking after other people to look after ourselves <3
Love AA Milne and the Gandhi ones- and love how you have presented this and the resting one- so important. Thank you
Thanks Suzie. I find them really supportive reminders <3
Love these will pin and share thanks
