This is a strange and troubled time.
Our world has turned upside down.
In order to be kind to others, and ourselves, we need to isolate ourselves. Pull away from physical contact. Remove ourselves from their presence.
We need to shut ourselves up in the boxes that we live in, and restrict our movements.
As I’ve talked about here many times, movement is one of the basics of self-care. Your foundations of self-care at this moment are critical, and you need to:
I live in a small condo in Thailand, and there’s not a lot of space to move inside it. The gym and pool have closed, and although I can still go outside into the streets, it feels uncomfortable and stressful to have people around me.
With a little ingenuity, I’ve found a way to move.
A secret piece of roof outside our balcony, where I can do laps. I use pomodoros for my work, and in my breaks, I take 5 minutes to go and walk laps.
Yesterday that took me from 244 steps (!!!) at the start of the day to nearly 5000 by the end. Today I hope to do more.
Watch the video to see me doing laps in Bangkok, and comment with how you’re keeping moving despite staying put.
Be kind to yourself!
